Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Jumanji: Open World, the third and final chapter of its blockbuster game-world trilogy, ahead of its US theatrical release on Christmas Day, December 25, 2026. The trailer arrives with the tagline “Our world. New rules. One final game,” signalling that the adventure is leaving the jungle behind.
Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan all return for the finale, reprising the video-game avatars they first played in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). The two earlier films were huge hits, grossing $962 million and $802 million worldwide respectively, making the finale one of the most anticipated family releases of the holiday season.
The new footage suggests a major change of setting, with the game’s familiar jungle rules giving way to an “open world” concept. Joining the returning cast are Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Nick Jonas and Awkwafina, alongside Rhys Darby, Danny DeVito and Bebe Neuwirth, the latter reprising her role as Nora Shepherd from the 1995 original film.
Jumanji: Open World opens in US theaters on December 25, 2026, with the UK and Ireland getting it two days earlier, on December 23. The trailer’s arrival kicks off Sony’s holiday marketing push for a film the studio is positioning as the definitive end of the franchise’s modern trilogy.
