The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced the Gotham Awards 2026 nominations on Tuesday, October 27, firing the starting gun on awards season with a notably wide-open field. Five films lead the nominations with four nods apiece: Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s All of a Sudden, Clarissa, La Gradiva, Olivia Wilde’s The Invite and Mike Leigh’s Tender Loving Care.
This year’s field spans 42 films and 25 individual performances across 11 categories, with the Best Feature category expanding to 11 nominees — one of the deepest lineups in recent memory. The Gotham Audience Award also returns after a six-year hiatus, giving moviegoers a vote in the season’s first major ceremony.
The performance categories read like an awards-season shortlist in their own right, with nominations for Mahershala Ali, Julianne Moore, Sophie Okonedo, Andrew Garfield, Channing Tatum, Penélope Cruz and Adam Driver. The mix of established Oscar winners and emerging talent underlines the Gothams’ reputation for spotting contenders early.
Winners will be announced on November 30 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. Historically an early bellwether, the Gothams have launched several eventual Oscar campaigns — and this year’s crowded field suggests the 2026 race is still anybody’s to win.
