Prime Minister Mark Carney will travel to St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, from November 2 to 4, 2026, to participate in the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), the Prime Minister’s Office announced on October 28.
At the meeting, Carney will join Commonwealth leaders to deepen trade and investment ties and accelerate cooperation on climate resilience and renewable energy. He will also discuss pressing geopolitical challenges and the future direction of the Commonwealth, including how its members can work together to bolster collective security.
“In a more dangerous and volatile world, the Commonwealth remains a constant,” the announcement said, noting that its 56 member nations span the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, North America and the Indo-Pacific, united by a shared belief that they can achieve far more together than alone.
The trip is part of Canada’s effort to deepen partnerships that create new economic opportunities and build a more resilient, secure and prosperous world, the statement added — a mission Carney has put at the centre of his foreign policy since taking office. It will be his first CHOGM as prime minister.
