Bela Bajaria is not hiding after her dramatic exit from Netflix. The former chief content officer at the streamer proudly chaired the Saban Community Clinic 50th Anniversary Gala at The Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday night, October 26, alongside WME co-chairman Richard Weitz, former NBC president Warren Littlefield and Ellen Hoberman.
Comedian Alex Edelman emceed the evening, and Aloe Blacc performed. Edelman even joked about the current state of the entertainment business when welcoming the crowd, and Weitz led a special round of applause for Bajaria during the night.
The evening was a who’s-who of Hollywood, with some of the biggest decision-makers in television and film working the room, according to an attendee quoted in coverage. It also celebrated the Saban Community Clinic’s plans for a new Crenshaw Health Center, and raised $2.2 million for the clinic’s work.
Bajaria, who exited Netflix earlier this month, co-chaired an event that has previously been hosted by Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel — a reminder that in Hollywood, a charity gala can double as a very public return to the room.
