Sydney Sweeney was photographed kissing co-star Stephen Kalyn on the Manhattan set of “The Housemaid’s Secret” on Friday, October 30, 2026 — but fans can relax: the moment was pure movie magic, not real life. The kiss is a scripted scene for the sequel to 2025’s hit thriller “The Housemaid,” with Kalyn playing Brock Cunningham, the love interest of Sweeney’s character Millie Calloway.
The production has shifted to New York City after weeks of filming in New Jersey. Between takes, the two actors were also seen holding hands as they walked down the street, in character, while cameras and crew followed. Sweeney returns as Millie in the sequel and is also serving as an executive producer, a sign of how much the franchise means to her.
Kalyn, 28, is best known as Dean Di Laurentis in Prime Video’s “Off Campus.” His casting as the new love interest gives the sequel a fresh romantic thread alongside its thriller engine. The film also brings in newcomers Kirsten Dunst, Brittany Snow and Paul Anthony Kelly. Lionsgate’s synopsis teases that Millie takes a job keeping house for a woman she is never allowed to see.
The original “The Housemaid,” released in December 2025, was a breakout success — directed by Paul Feig and adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novels, it grossed more than $400 million worldwide on a $35 million budget. That box-office muscle made a sequel an easy call.
In real life, Sweeney is dating Scooter Braun, who visited her on set earlier this month, and the couple was spotted together on New York’s Upper West Side on October 29. “The Housemaid’s Secret” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2027 — and if Friday’s on-set moment is any indication, the sequel is leaning into the romance as much as the menace.
