Netflix premieres The One About Matthew Perry on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, a three-part documentary revisiting the life and career of the actor best known as Chandler Bing on Friends.
Directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson, the series uses interviews with people close to Perry, including his sister Mia Perry Bowick and lifelong friends, along with previously unreleased photographs and video from the family’s private archive. It traces his rise as a comedic star, his years on one of television’s most successful sitcoms, and his later efforts to help others facing addiction.
The release arrives just ahead of the third anniversary of Perry’s death in late October 2023. Rather than framing the project as a true-crime account of his death, Robertson has said the series aims to celebrate his career and personal journey, and to keep humour at its centre. She has said Perry himself would have been upset by a film about his life that was not funny.
For longtime fans, the documentary offers a fuller portrait of a performer whose dry delivery made Chandler a defining character of 1990s television, while for younger viewers it introduces the person behind a role that still circulates widely through reruns and streaming.
