The Simpsons are marking Halloween in a new way. Treehouse of Horror XXXVII, the 37th edition of the show’s Halloween special, premieres on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX, streaming the next day on Hulu.
The episode opens with a stop-motion sequence rebuilding Springfield as Halloween Town, in tribute to The Nightmare Before Christmas. Bart appears as Jack Skellington, Marge as Sally, Homer as Halloween Town’s two-faced Mayor, Ned Flanders as Oogie Boogie and Santa’s Little Helper as ghost dog Zero.
The sequence was animated by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, the team behind Robot Chicken, using hand-sculpted puppets and cardboard-and-foam sets. Production took approximately three months across preparation, filming and post-production, with an intro score spoofing “This Is Halloween” and Springfield’s usual yellow colouring adjusted toward blue.
The episode’s three stories follow Marge’s marriage, a Bart and Santa’s Little Helper body-swap adventure, and Homer’s driving lesson involving scary driver-education films. Guest voices include Tiffany Haddish and Jeff Probst.
