Hailee Steinfeld has a surprise for fans. The singer and actress released a newly recorded version of The Cars’ “Magic” on Friday, October 23, 2026, announcing it on her Instagram story with the words: “I’m so proud of this record & all that went into making it.”
The song was recorded for Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming film Hexed, whose soundtrack is due on November 20, 2026. The original “Magic” was released by The Cars on their 1984 album Heartbeat City and was written by Ric Ocasek.
The release marks Steinfeld’s first music of 2026. Her last song, “Dangerous,” came out in April 2025 for Sinners, while her previous single, “SunKissing,” was released in 2023.
Fans will hear the full Hexed soundtrack next month, when the film’s music arrives ahead of its release.
