The win gives New Zealand an unassailable 3-0 lead in the four-Test series, securing the Cup with one match still to play. It is only the fourth time New Zealand have won the Constellation Cup in the competition’s 16-year history, which began in 2010, and their third straight win over Australia in this series.

Australia led 15-11 after the first quarter and 41-39 at three-quarter time, but New Zealand won the final quarter 13-8, including a seven-goal scoring run. Earlier in the series, New Zealand won Game 1 56-50 in Auckland on October 18 and Game 2 62-50 in Christchurch on October 21.

Grace Nweke led New Zealand’s scoring with 41 goals from 45 attempts, and Maddy Gordon starred in her 50th international game. The final match is on Wednesday, October 28, at John Cain Arena in Melbourne, where a 4-0 New Zealand sweep would take the world No. 1 ranking from Australia for the first time since 2013. Attendance for the Sydney match was listed as 11,096, and Diamonds vice-captain Kate Moloney dislocated a finger less than 30 seconds into the game. This is netball’s Constellation Cup, not to be confused with any rugby or cricket series, and the venue is given here simply as Sydney because sources differ on the arena name.
