Noah Wyle Named People’s 2026 Sexiest Man Alive: “I Thought That Sounded Like a Prank”

People magazine has named Noah Wyle, 55, its 2026 Sexiest Man Alive. The announcement came October 27, with the cover revealed on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast — where Poehler joked that Wyle had refused to come on the show until he won the title.

Wyle admitted he needed convincing to accept the honor. “I thought that sounded like a prank,” he said. His wife Sara, whom he married in 2014, pushed him to say yes — and was pleased that the title “reflects well on her taste.” The couple shares three children: Frances, 11, Owen and Auden.

The timing makes sense. Wyle won the Emmy for lead actor in a drama in September 2026 for “The Pitt” — which also won outstanding drama — along with the 2026 Golden Globe for best actor in a TV drama. He first rose to fame as Dr. John Carter on “ER” from 1994 to 2009, and “The Pitt” returns for season 3 in January 2027.

Context: Jonathan Bailey was the 2025 titleholder, and the Sexiest Man Alive franchise began in 1985 with Mel Gibson. No one was named in 1994 — Keanu Reeves was given the title retroactively in 2015.

From the ER to the emergency department of “The Pitt,” Wyle has spent three decades playing doctors television loves. Now television’s favorite doctor has the magazine cover to prove it.
