The B-52s will receive the 2,861st star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on October 29, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has announced. The ceremony takes place at 11:30 a.m. PT in front of Amoeba Music at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, in the Recording category, and will be streamed live on the Walk of Fame website.
Formed in Athens, Georgia in the 1970s, the B-52s became one of new wave’s defining acts, with era-defining hits including “Love Shack” and “Roam.” The band has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, and its 1979 self-titled debut went gold.
The star comes nearly five decades into a career that has taken the band from Athens house parties to arenas and festival main stages. Their flamboyant style and enduring dance-floor anthems have kept them a fixture of pop culture well beyond their original wave of fame.
Fans unable to attend the Hollywood Boulevard ceremony can watch the unveiling live online as the band takes its place among music’s most decorated names.
