Apple’s most radical iPhone ever hits store shelves this week. The iPhone Duo — the company’s first foldable dual-screen iPhone — goes on sale Friday, October 23, in the U.S. and more than 70 other countries, with 28 more countries following on October 30. Pre-orders began Friday, October 16, after Apple unveiled the device on September 9.
The specs read like a greatest-hits of display technology: a 7.6-inch inner display and 5.4-inch outer display, both with ProMotion, Always On and 3,000-nit outdoor brightness, plus a nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and crease visibility.
U.S. pricing starts at $1,999 for 256GB and runs to $3,199 for 2TB, in two colors: Star White and Night Sky. Inside is the new A20 Pro chip (up to 20% faster CPU and 40% faster GPU than the A19 Pro), a titanium enclosure, and an IP68 rating. In a notable break from tradition, Apple replaced Face ID with Touch ID built into the side button. Cameras are two 48MP rear sensors (Main + Ultra Wide) with an under-display FaceTime camera inside — but there’s no telephoto lens and no LiDAR scanner, unlike the iPhone 18 Pro.
One warning for launch-day shoppers: supply is severely constrained. Apple retail staff were told to warn customers against walk-in purchases on launch day, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman called launching pre-orders before building inventory a “major mistake.” Apple Stores are pushing in-store demonstrations instead — the Fifth Avenue flagship reportedly received over 150 demo units.
