AFI Fest audiences got a surprise no one saw coming. Quentin Tarantino unveiled the first 17 minutes of The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth on Friday night, October 23, at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, following a screening of 2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and a question-and-answer session.
The film, written by Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, brings back Brad Pitt as stuntman-turned-fixer Cliff Booth. The footage is set in June 1977, eight years after the original film, with Cliff having left stunt work behind to manage the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles.
According to eyewitness accounts, the footage introduces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in a film shown at the cinema, and Peter Weller as Cliff’s father, who owns a pawn shop. Cliff buys stolen items — including a Best Director Oscar — and works as a Hollywood fixer, a setup that promises the same mix of nostalgia and menace that defined the original.
The release plan, as reported, will see the film open in IMAX globally on November 25, 2026, for a two-week run, before arriving on Netflix on December 23, 2026.
