Jayson Tatum made an elbow jumper as time expired in overtime to give the Boston Celtics a 125-124 victory over the visiting Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night, October 27, at TD Garden.
Tatum scored a game-high 40 points and hit a career-high 18 free throws on 22 attempts. Paul George added 20 points, seven rebounds and seven assists for Boston, which won its third game in a row.
Michael Porter Jr. amassed 27 points and 12 rebounds for the Nets, who fell to 0-4, while Julius Randle finished with 24 points and nine rebounds. Brooklyn trailed 117-114 late in the fourth quarter, but Mikel Brown Jr. sent the game to overtime by making a 3-pointer with one second left — only for Tatum to have the final word.
The dramatic finish capped one of the night’s most electrifying moments for the home crowd, and kept Boston rolling early in the season while Brooklyn continues to search for its first win.
