Christopher Nolan’s epic has conquered one more milestone. The Odyssey has officially become Universal’s highest-grossing film of all time, closing in on $1.8 billion at the worldwide box office, according to Comcast’s third-quarter 2026 results reported on October 22.
The triumph helped Universal become the first studio ever to reach $5 billion in global box office in a single year. The studio division’s EBITDA climbed 18.6% to $402 million in the quarter — a remarkable run powered almost single-handedly by one film.
The good news extended to streaming. Peacock delivered its second straight profitable quarter, posting $261 million in EBITDA with 48 million paid subscribers — up 17% year over year — as the service continues its turnaround.
Comcast also confirmed that its planned NBCUniversal–Sky spinoff remains on track for mid-2027, even as the company lost 144,000 broadband customers in the quarter and announced plans for a major cost restructuring.
For an industry still debating the future of the theatrical experience, The Odyssey‘s $1.8 billion run stands as the strongest possible argument: audiences will still show up — in historic numbers — for the right film on the biggest screen.
