The search for the next 007 is entering its endgame. According to new insider reports, the James Bond casting shortlist is down to three names — with Jacob Elordi and Jack Lowden identified as two of the contenders and the third kept under wraps.
The report, from World of Reel’s Jordan Ruimy and cited across the trades, suggests an announcement could arrive between late October and early November. Separately, The InSneider’s Jeff Sneider reports that both Elordi and Lowden have already screen-tested for the role.
The stakes are enormous. Denis Villeneuve is set to direct the 26th installment, with Steven Knight writing the script — the first Bond film since Amazon took control of the franchise in February. Producer Amy Pascal has previously said the new 007 will be cast by the end of 2026.
Not everyone is convinced by the reported frontrunners. Former Bond novelist Charlie Higson publicly questioned both names, calling Elordi “too tall” for the part — a reminder that every Bond casting has sparked fierce debate long before the first frame is shot.
Until the studio speaks, the three-name shortlist remains an insider claim rather than an official word — but with the clock ticking toward the promised reveal, Bond fans are watching every development.
