Zazie Beetz chose a very public stage for deeply personal news. The 35-year-old actress revealed her first pregnancy on Tuesday evening, arriving at the New York premiere of her new Apple TV series Nocturne with her baby bump proudly on display.
Beetz walked the red carpet at Regal Union Square in a two-piece striped skirt suit from Maximilian Raynor’s spring 2027 collection, while her husband, actor-screenwriter David Rysdahl, 39, posed cradling her bump. The couple met at an acting workshop nearly a decade ago and married in Germany in 2023.
The timing could hardly be better for Beetz, whose new crime drama Nocturne debuts on Apple TV this Friday, October 30, with its first two episodes, then rolls out weekly through December 25. The 10-episode first season co-stars Liev Schreiber, Stephen Graham, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Gary Carr and Poorna Jagannathan.
In the series, Schreiber plays ex-soldier-turned-detective Jonah Lynn, hunting a serial killer, while Beetz plays FBI Agent Saga Bauer. The show draws on elements from Lars Kepler’s Lazarus and The Sandman novels.
Red-carpet pregnancy reveals have become a Hollywood tradition, and Beetz’s elegant debut — blending a major career moment with family news — gave photographers and fans exactly the kind of moment that defines awards-season arrivals.
