BOGOTÁ / NEW YORK — Following the dramatic capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the clouds of war are now gathering over Latin America. Outrage Over Maduro’s Capture

The geopolitical landscape of South America was shaken recently when U.S. Special Forces conducted a massive military operation in Venezuela, arresting Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and transporting them to New York. President Petro, a former guerrilla fighter himself, has condemned the move as a “vicious attack on regional sovereignty.”

Trump’s Sharp Attack: “Watch Your Back”

Celebrating Maduro’s arrest as a historic victory, Donald Trump wasted no time turning his sights on the Colombian leader. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump called Petro a “sick man” and alleged that Colombia is running “cocaine factories” under his watch. Trump issued a chilling warning: “He won’t be doing this much longer. He better watch his a*.”*

When asked if the U.S. would consider a “Venezuela-style” operation in Colombia, Trump replied bluntly: “It sounds good to me.”

“The Jaguar Will Awaken” – Petro’s Military Threat

Responding to Trump’s threats, Gustavo Petro took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a fiercely aggressive message. He stated:

I swore I would never pick up a weapon again… but to defend my homeland, I am ready to take up arms once more. If you arrest a leader the people love, you will awaken the ‘Popular Jaguar’.”

Petro made it clear that any American intervention would be met with “guerrilla warfare,” claiming thousands of fighters are ready to return to the mountains to defend Colombia’s sovereignty against what he called a “colonial mindset.”

Strict Orders to Military Commanders

As tensions escalate, Petro has issued a stern directive to the Colombian military. He warned that any commander who prioritizes “imperial interests” (the U.S. flag) over the Colombian flag will be immediately terminated. In a show of force, Colombia has already deployed over 30,000 troops along its 2,200-kilometer border with Venezuela.

Is Colombia the Next Target?

Political analysts believe Colombia may indeed be next on Trump’s list. The Trump administration has declared the flow of cocaine from Colombia a “national emergency.” Conversely, Petro argues his government has seized record amounts of drugs and claims Trump is merely seeking control over oil and regional dominance.

Currently, the world’s eyes are fixed on the courtrooms of New York and the Presidential Palace in Bogotá. Will Trump launch another daring military strike, or will Petro’s “Jaguar” threat force Washington to back down?
